Hampsthwaite Brownies meet every Tuesday (termtime). Girls can join us from the age of 7 years old.
When they first start they will be given a brownie book which will tell them all about Brownies and includes their Brownie Promise and Law. They will need to know their Brownie Promise and Law for their enrolment which normally is about 6 weeks after they start.
At the enrolment they will need to wear their new Brownie uniform and sash. Parents are welcome to come watch our enrolments (don't forget your camera for this special moment!)
We have many adult leaders and also some young leaders who are taking their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Should any parents like to help out at Brownies then just speak to Brown Owl. We are always looking for willing volunteers.
What do Brownies do?
Brownies activities range from crafts, games, learning activities, challenges and trips out. We are currently doing our Royal Wedding Badge. This involves learning all about the Royal Family whilst having fun.
Trips out
We do have a number of trips out. One is our annual trip to the Pantomime at Harrogate Theatre. We are also going to be doing our Riders Badge at Follifoot Riding Stables in the near future. A trip to the Llama Farm in Pateley Bridge for a Llama Trek is also on the cards.
Shows
Every year we do a fantastic show involving all our Brownies and Guides. Every girl is given a role and this gives them so much confidence rehearsing on our big stage ready for the big day when we invite family, friends and villagers to come watch. Last year we did a Lollywood Show (Lollywood is the Pakistan version of Indian Bollywood). We had a professional Lollywood dancer who came to teach us the moves. As well as including the girls dancing, we had professional belly dancers, Asian Drummers and Lollywood dancers. The show was a huge success and raised over £600 for the Pakistan Flood Victims.
